First, once again, our deepest condolences to Assistant Chief Ashton’s Family.

On behalf of the Espanola Fire Department, we would like to extend our thank you to all of those who were involved in organizing and attending Assistant Chief Wayne Ashton’s funeral and celebration of life. Also, to those who came to show your support for his family, thank you.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to the fire departments and emergency services that came out to show their support: City of Greater Sudbury Fire Services and Honour Guard, Markstay-Warren Fire Department, Nairn-Hyman Fire Department, Baldwin Fire Department, Sables-Spanish Rivers Fire Department, Whitefish Falls Fire Department, Ontario Provincial Police, Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB Paramedic Services, and North Shore Search and Rescue.

We would also like to thank our Public Works Department for clearing the snow and sanding the parade route, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 39 for hosting, and a very special thank you to Carson Nadeau for capturing the procession with this wonderful video.

Finally, a very special thank you to our members who were able to help organize this celebration and do all of the required work in the background; Sandra Bois, Rheal Lachance, Captain Mike Langlois, Captain Jamie Ramsay, Fred Gagan, and retired Firefighter Dean Riggs.

All firefighters that worked with Assistant Chief Ashton are grateful for all he has taught us; his memory will live forever through our work.
