Community Goal: NOJHL Team

Espanola Sets Goal to Score NOJHL Team

The goal has been set for Espanola to sell 400 season ticket passes to score an NOJHL team in Espanola!  "An NOJHL franchise hockey team in Espanola would be a significant win for both the community and hockey fans alike" says Deputy Mayor Jill Beer, Chair of Espanola’s Community Economic Development Committee.  "It's Junior 'A' hockey, but it's also a new business moving to our town, and bringing with it, huge spin offs for our restaurants, hotels, businesses and Complex. Moving an NOJHL hockey team here is a huge investment for the franchise Governor's & the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League – they both need to know they have the community backing to bring an NOJHL Hockey Team to Espanola to begin play as early as next season."

Season ticket sales will kick off at the Espanola Community Carnival Game opener between the North Bay Trappers and the Blind River Beavers on Friday February 8th at 7:30pm. The community has an opportunity to demonstrate their support for an NOJHL Franchise move to Espanola by making a $40 (refundable) deposit, to be held in trust by the Town, on 2013-14 Season Tickets.

"The North Bay Trappers, Blind River Beavers and the NOJHL are very proud and deeply honoured to be opening the 2013 Espanola Winter Carnival," says NOJHL Commissioner Robert Mazzuca.   "The NOJHL is very excited to bring Junior 'A' Hockey back to Espanola, and we all hope the return will be full time and permanent as early as next season."
