New Business Development in Espanola

ESPANOLA, Ontario, July 26, 2011 — The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister for FedNor, today announced a Government of Canada investment of $371,500 in support of the Town of Espanola’s Light Industrial Park development.

“The Government of Canada is committed to making strategic investments that support the development, growth and diversification of Northern Ontario’s economy,” said Minister Clement. “Today’s announcement will provide greater opportunities for attracting small business owners and entrepreneurs to Espanola, and that will lead to creating and maintaining jobs in the town and surrounding area.”

The Town of Espanola will use FedNor’s investment to complete Phase II of its Light Industrial Park, including the expansion of five serviced lots and construction of a new access road.

"Today’s announcement will be of great benefit to Espanola and in particular the business community as it continues to develop and grow,” added Sault Ste. Marie MP, Bryan Hayes. “I look forward to the positive impact this investment will have on our government’s ongoing efforts to stimulate the economy of Northern Ontario.”

“FedNor and the Government of Canada have been strong supporters of the Light Industrial Park project from the beginning,” said Mike Lehoux, Mayor of Espanola. “This latest investment will help us to complete the next phase of expansion as part of our ongoing efforts to diversify and expand our business community.”

The funding announced today was provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that strengthen community economic development, enhance business growth, and facilitate innovation throughout the region. By working in partnership with local stakeholders, FedNor is bringing progress and prosperity to Northern Ontario.
