Espanola has been accepted to join a cross-Canada Mural Mosaic initiative to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary.

Ball players have lost count of the actual number of Anniversaries but for as long as players can remember Espanola has hosted the Annual Mixed Slo-Pitch Tournament the weekend following the August Civic weekend.

Espanola Coach Selected as Torchbearer for Pan Am Games Torch Relay

Dave Gallant, teacher & coach at Espanola High School has been selected by the Pam Am/Parapan Am Games to carry the torch through his home town of Espanola on June 2nd.

The Town of Espanola has exercised their right to end the contract with the Espanola Rivermen.  Notice has been served advising that the contract will end at the completion of the 2015 hockey season.

Province Doles Out Infrastructure Millions

The province announced funding for 78 projects to build and repair infrastructure across the province, including 26 projects in Northern Ontario.

Funding comes from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF), which helps pay for bridges, roadways, water mains, and sewage treatment systems. The OCIF provides $100 million per year, including $50 million in formula-based funding and another $50 million per year in application-based funding.
