The Town of Espanola Launches a New Four-Year Strategic Plan

ESPANOLA – Today, the Town of Espanola released its new Strategic Plan – Our Gateway to Growth 2023 - 2027. The Plan focuses on six strategic priorities, each with their own initiatives. These priorities will chart the Town’s path forward, helping to deliver and prioritize what is most important to the community.
The 2023- 2027 Strategic Priorities and their focus areas are:
- Housing – A plentiful and varied supply of housing, including low and medium density, ownership and rental market, and rent-geared-to-income
- Pride of Place: A place residents are proud of and visitors are attracted to
- Infrastructure: Infrastructure that reliably serves existing and new development.
- Quality of Life: A healthy and active quality of life for all ages.
- Economy: A prosperous and diversified local economy.
- Town Government: Effective Municipal Governance and Operations
“The document is truly one that was created by the community. This has been one of the most comprehensive planning processes that I have been a part of. From start to finish, our consultants held 12 separate consultation meetings with local organizations, Boards, Committees, and interest groups. A public meeting was held and Council, along with the Strategic Plan Steering Committee, participated in four meetings and workshops. In addition, a community survey was circulated and received a total of 546 responses from our citizens. Hearing the community share their vision was an essential step in establishing Council’s strategic direction” stated Mayor Gervais.
Since being elected in October 2022, Council has focused on identifying the top priorities determined by the community. The Strategic Plan will guide Staff and Council when making important decisions such as setting the budget, supporting projects, and providing services and will be referenced in staff reports and discussions accordingly.

The Town invites all residents, businesses, and community organizations to read the strategic plan to learn about the initiatives that will be undertaken to continue building on our wonderful community.
