The Town of Espanola is pleased to announce the appointment of Allan Hewitt as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Treasurer and Joseph Burke as the new Clerk-Manager of Planning Services.
Allan Hewitt
Allan Hewitt comes to us from the Town of Fogo Island, Newfoundland, where he served as the Chief Administrative Officer for the municipality.
Previously, Allan was the Academic Services Leader for the School of Health, Wellness, Justice and Community Development at Fleming College in Peterborough, where he was responsible for the administration of a sixteen-million-dollar operating budget.
Prior to that, Allan was the Manager of Administration for the Durham Region Health Department for 15 years where he managed corporate services and ensured success in the operations of the organization were met.
Allan starts his new role as the CAO Treasurer for Town of Espanola on July 5, 2021.
Joseph Burke
Joseph Burke is a native son of Espanola and the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers. With seven years of experience working in a mix of education and government relations contexts, Joseph has acquired significant experience in navigating and understanding government legislation and regulated processes while also providing strong leadership in organizational management and executive support roles in the post-secondary education sector.
Joseph is also an avid member of the sports community as a former athlete and track/cross country running coach, is fully bilingual in French and English, and holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French Studies from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Masters of Indigenous Relations from Laurentian University.
Joseph starts his new role as the Clerk – Manager of Planning Services for the Town of Espanola on June 21, 2021.
