Freedom of Information Requests Granted

It has been almost a year since requests for the Town’s February through May 2013 cheque registers and credit card information were first made.  Similar information had been provided for several months prior to this through similar requests.  The Town’s Freedom of Information Coordinator denied these requests under the “frivolous and vexatious” exemption under the Act.

On behalf of Council for the Town of Espanola, I would like to thank the residents of Espanola for their patience and trust they have shown during my most challenging time on Council, which can be attributed to the ARB Decision regarding Domtar’s Assessment Appeal.  I am extremely proud of the way Council conducted themselves along with our staff and unions during these trying times.  The Town of Espanola was spared of significant tax increases due to the attentiveness of both Council and staff.

Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook Sudbury District

The Ministry of Natural Resources - Sudbury District is advising area residents of the Aux Sables, French, Onaping, Spanish, Vermillion, Veuve, Wanapitei, Whitefish, Manitou and Mindemoya Rivers that a Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook is in effect in the District.
Residents in these watersheds should keep a close watch on conditions, regularly check for updated messages and stay away from fast-moving rivers and streams.
MNR is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions. Further updates will be issued as appropriate.
